Carbondale pop-punks the Copyrights, known for their melodic vocals over crunchy guitars and snappy drum parts, have just released a split EP, "Observation Wagon," with longtime collaborator Kepi Ghoulie.

A Grimy Gooey Ghoulie? A Splitch-Kah-Do-Mee-Grabber?

"One of my highlights this year was the low-key semi-impromptu jam session that Vic Ruggerio of the NYC band the Slackers and Kepi Ghoulie of the California-based Groovie Ghoulies did in the Ship Room (at the Hotel Vernon)," says Telegram & Gazette Reporter and occasional Pop Culture Notebook action-videographer Thomas Caywood.

The three-hour event featured a graveyard fairground where children "beat the ghoulie, dipped their hands in buckets of blood, eyeballs and worms, lassoed a scarecrow and ringed a spider," said organisers.

Younger children will receive a bag of spooky goodies and prizes will be given away for a variety of games including the Dark Dungeon, the Flying Fox, the Guillotine, the Unlucky Dip, Beat the Ghoulie, Name the Witch the Graveyard Hunt and the Name the Black Cat contest.

The chop shop is interrupted, however, with the arrival of ghoulie Penny Peabody, who is on a mission to retrieve Archie for Hiram Lodge.

A number of Halloween-themed games and activities including the Graveyard Fairground, the Unlucky Dip, the Spider Ring Toss, Name the Beasts, Beat the Ghoulie, the Scarecrow Lasso, the Dark Dungeon, the Flying Fox, the Executioner and his Guillotine and the Stocks have been lined up for this year.

(5) Northbridge Junior Troop 385 earned the Project Take Action patch through the American Red Cross by assembling and distributing more than 250 "ghoulie bags" throughout October at various events, including the Northbridge Middle School's Walk-a-thon, the Northbridge PTA's Harvest Dance, and the Sutton Montessori School's Pumpkinfest.

Avoid Room 333 unless you want to see the most notorious ghoulie - a silver-headed Victorian man with blank, staring eyes.

ON the weekend on the 11th and 12th of October, staff from Superdrug stores across the country will be transforming stores into a ghoulie Halloween paradise, all in the name of raising money for Marie Curie, Superdrug's official charity partner.
