The course stands 4 stories high, offers 42 elements for daring climbers to traverse, and is located at Killington's
Snowshed Adventure Center.
By fall 2010, WSDOT will advertise the third contract, which continues adding new lanes in each direction, replacing the
snowshed (a concrete shed used to provide permanent protection from avalanches and other falling debris to travelers passing through Snoqualmie Pass), addressing unstable slopes, building new bridges, and constructing new chain-up/off areas on the project's next 2 miles (3.2 kilometers).
The Long Trail Pub at the
Snowshed Lodge has been remodeled, and the Killington Grand Resort Hotel and Spa underwent some $2 million in upgrades.
A life-size, walk-through diorama depicting the construction of a
snowshed on the Central Pacific transcontinental railroad over the Sierra Nevada mountains gives way to one of the massive articulated locomotives that the CP's successor, the Southern Pacific, assigned to lug trains through the Sierras many decades later.
A new office and employee cleanup facility, plus a
snowshed canopy to protect workers and vehicles during truck unloading, are being added.
