Descriptive statistics of the pre- and post-test writing engagement scores (8) show that students from the Writing Matters group had higher writing engagement scores at the beginning of the study compared with those from the comparison group (with an average prescore of 63.79, compared with 60.29) (Table 8 and Figure 5).
