(ə-räks′) or A·ras (ə-räs′) Formerly A·rax·es (ə-răk′sēz) A river rising in northeast Turkey and flowing about 1,070 km (665 mi) eastward, forming much of the border between Turkey and Armenia and between Azerbaijan and Iran before emptying into the Caspian Sea.
